Save The Date

The Kananaskis Whitewater Festival is back, and 2025 is shaping up to be the best one yet! With the completion of AWA’s Kananaskis River rebuild project, this year’s festival will offer even more excitement for paddlers, surfers, and river enthusiasts of all kinds.

This isn’t just about a better river—it’s about a bigger celebration. Festival organizers are working hard to add food services and river surfing events on the mountain wave. Local clubs are stepping up in a big way, so there will be even more opportunities to connect, learn, and grow in this amazing community.

Of course, the festival wouldn’t be complete without all the things you’ve come to love. There will be live music to set the mood, friendly races to challenge your skills, discounted classes for those eager to improve, and countless chances to socialize with fellow whitewater enthusiasts. Whether you’re here for the waves, the camaraderie, or the festivities, this is your chance to celebrate everything that makes the Kananaskis River special.

Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready to join us for an unforgettable weekend, Aug 8th to 10th 2025.

Registration is available at the link below:
https://paddlingraces.com/event/kanfest-2021

This year will be slightly different in that there will be no food or beverages supplied by us, you will need to bring your own meals; event pricing has been adjusted to reflect this change. Masks are encouraged while shuttling and in spaces where distancing is not possible. Aside from that, not much else has changed, we will have courses, races, inflatables, auctions, prizes, music, friends, paddling and lots and lots of fun.

We have a bunch of great courses from Aquabatics and CANRVRSUP that are available throughout the weekend. Spaces are limited so please sign up early!

Volunteers will be needed for set up, take down and for on-water events throughout the weekend. We will be posting a link shortly for volunteer sign up.

Kan’t Fest 2020

Kant Fest 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Kanfest 2020 will not be able to proceed this summer due to COVID-19. While the parks have reopened, there are still restrictions for large gatherings that will not be lifted for the foreseeable future. Social distancing and hygiene measures like frequent handwashing are also not possible in a large camp setting outdoors.

We encourage you to continue to support all of our past and present sponsors, as many of them are in the tourism and recreation industry and facing a very difficult year. To keep the kanfest spirit going, we’re going to be launching some fun virtual kayak competitions. Stay tuned for more details.

We will come back bigger and stronger for Kanfest 2021!

Additional Note: Canoe Meadows and Widow Maker are still closed for construction and will not be open until later this summer (unrelated to COVID). If you are looking to access the river, please use the trail via the Barrier Info Center parking lot.

Support our Sponsors

As most of you are aware, the outdoor and recreation industry has been particularly hard hit by COVID-19. Kanfest depends on the generosity of some amazing brands and local sponsors. Without them, our kayaking community would be at a huge loss and Kanfest wouldn’t be able to run to its usual size and scale.

We encourage you to support our sponsors during this time, so that they can continue to support our community in the future. Shop online (if applicable), purchase giftcards for use at a later date, or if money’s tight, leave positive reviews online and like/share/subscribe to their feeds.

Note: At this time, we are proceeding with plans for Kanfest 2020. We will keep everyone posted as dates draw closer as to whether or not the festival will need to be postponed or cancelled based on official guidelines. Stay safe everyone!
