Is KanFest for Kayakers only?No. KanFest is a celebration of whitewater sports that takes place on the Upper Kan. We hold events for SUP, Kayak, Rafts, Pack Rafts and Canoes.

Is KanFest suitable for beginners, or is it only for experienced paddlers?Kanfest is open to paddlers of all experience levels. Our discounted lessons and beginner friendly events are a great learning opportunity for newer paddlers.

I live nearby, can I come just for the events?Yes. You are not required to camp, however you must purchase an festival pass to participate in any Kanfest event.

Can spectators attend the festival even if they’re not paddling?Yes.

Are there food options available at the event?We are working with a few sponsors to provide some meal options for registered attendees, we'll send out an update on this prior to the event! However, you should plan to provide some of your own meals. (There is a Tim Hortons and a well stocked large convenience store about 5min away from the campground).

Can I reserve a camping space?No. All KanFest general admission camping is first come first serve. Some sponsors will be provided with a reserved camping location.

Do I need to be a member of a club or the AWA?Yes. You must be a member of an Alberta whitewater club or a direct member of the Alberta Whitewater Association to participate in any of the whitewater events at KanFest. AWA memberships can be purchased here.

What safety measures will be in place during the festival?Our sponsor Raven RSM will be providing on-site river safety and rescue services throughout all events. In addition, several attendees and volunteers are trained in Swiftwater rescue and first aid. We recommend anyone regularly participating in whitewater activities to take a swiftwater rescue course.
